Though in the middle of Frenchmen Street, it is easy to walk past this hole in a wall, but slowly, it is gaining popularity. Izakaya refers to more of a SAKE BAR with small plates, rather than a typical Japanese restaurant. In this regard, YUKI hits the mark! Small and intimate, the bar offers close live music experience, and the little side dining area allows those people a more secluded evening. I normally do not eat there, but rather sample either sake or Japanese beer. I really try to go there on Monday nights when my Japanese Soul Sister, MIKI FUJII, and her band are performing from 8-11pm. I’ve never been to Japan, but seeing her sing in the dim red glow makes me wish I had!! By the way, if her buddy YOSHITAKA TSUJI (Z2) is on keyboards, you are in for a real treat! This guy is one of the best keyboard stylists I’ve ever seen…so good, that lately I’ve seen him playing with KERMIT RUFFINS!! Oooh, Yeah!!
Also shown here, singer/songwriter MYKIA JOVAN as guest performer!
