Been going to VAUGHAN’S a long, long time, and always run into friends, or make new friends. But, one evening back in June of 2006, I ran into CHUCK PERKINS, as I always seem to do, who wanted to introduce me to his friend who lived across the street. I was a little surprised and curious to see who would live across the street from this New Orleans institution. Well, not only was his friend lovely, and friendly, but she was a unique artist specializing in totem-like head gear and feathered creations similar to MARDI GRAS INDIAN gear! Chuck and I spent a while there discussing her art, before we headed back to Vaughan’s.
Of course, as serendipity always occurs with me in this town, I ran into her again on my next New Orleans visit, and you can see she was prepared with her head-gear du jour as temp bartender at DRAGON’S DEN in the MARIGNY. That evening, that place, and a couple other characters are part of another MY NEW ORLEANS: adventure that is forthcoming. Meanwhile, we traded contact info, and she sent me more wonderful shots of her works, but since I haven’t seen her in awhile, and I don’t know if she ever pursued her gallery exhibition dreams, I shall refrain from sharing them.
This is just a little vignette.
