CHEF DONALD LINK, aka, LINK RESTAURANT GROUP, raised in Louisiana, has several restaurants in this area: COCHON, COCHON BUTCHER, CALCASIEU (private event facility), and recently, PECHE SEAFOOD. Having tried COCHON, and PECHE SEAFOOD, I still like HERBSAINT best. I often combine eating dinner there with *YLC’s WEDNESDAY AT THE SQUARE, which are free Spring concerts at LAFAYETTE SQUARE held on Wednesday afternoon/early evenings, featuring top name local musicians, food and drink booths. When I attend, I don’t eat there because I often have made reservations at HERBSAINT across the street on ST. CHARLES. Also on my schedule, is an evening at THE CANDLELIGHT LOUNGE with THE TREME BRASS BAND!….And after that, a SEVENTH WARD dive-bar tour with Brother BENNY JONES, SR.!!

Pictured are shots from recent visit, which would mirror most shots throughout the years: I always order their GUMBO of the day because it’s always superior to most gumbo I’ve tasted in town. And this is my kind of restaurant that serves hearty, savory food in generous portions…witness my LAMB NECK BONE ON PASTA!! On that visit, I met SCOTT PALAZZO, who owns a NAPA VALLEY winery, and was in town promoting – successfully – his line to local restaurant customers…that is WORK???
