d.b.a. on Frenchmen Street has become one of the most popular clubs in New Orleans to see excellent local regulars, such as JOHN BOUTTE on many Saturday nights, GLEN DAVID ANDREWS on many Monday nights, and TREME BRASS BAND every Tuesday night. All of these stars have become more well known through appearances on the HBO TREME series. Indeed, JOHN BOUTTE sings the show’s theme song, “DOWN IN THE TREME!” The cover charge is $5.-$10. for most performances, but for these popular acts, you should arrive at least half an hour early to get a close position when the performances begin! This is a bar, but the long rooms are divided between the stage viewing room, and the drinking/listening areas. If you cannot get in early, thus at, or near the front of the stage, when the room fills up, you will not be able to see. Once again, in my old age, I have backed off from fighting crowds, so I don’t go to d.b.a. very often…but YOU should!!
