When I travel to New Orleans, or almost anywhere that involves lots of rich food and drink, I have to pace myself. At home, on a daily basis, I actually eat healthy and don’t normally drink on weekdays. But when I travel for a limited visit, I am trying to discover new eateries and still re-visit favorites. I often crash and burn, which forces me to take it easy for a day and night. If I have enough presence of mind to prevent disaster, I find a lunch spot that offers large, fresh, multi ingredient salads. COOP’S PLACE is more known for its location on the hustle-bustle DECATUR STREET, and its very laid back, yet diverse menu selection. Prices are cheap. People watching is excellent.
Pictured below are a couple of servers I really enjoy, Jerry and Kattai!!
Also, their CHEFS SALAD comes with option of grilled or blackened chicken, or grilled shrimp. I call large shrimp, “prawns,” but Southerners just say “shrimp.”
Recently, I discovered that their Gumbo is excellent also! Now I have to have a cup with my salad; I love the poached oysters within!!
