ANGELLE’S WHISKEY RIVER LANDING – some gps/maps list it BREAUX BRIDGE some list it HENDERSON, whichever they decide on for the moment!!
fais dodo (fey-doh-DOH)
Translated as, “go to sleep”, referring to put the kids to sleep so we can party! Often on Sunday afternoons, it is a lively cajun custom…everything they do is lively!!
We have visited ANGELLE’S WHISKEY RIVER LANDING a few times to enjoy the live bands and cajun dancing. The setting is the WESTERN ATCHAFALAYA RIVER PROTECTION LEVEE on the waterfront side of HENDERSON LAKE….fancy technical descriptions for a big swamp!! We have stayed nearby at MCGEE’S LANDING, but Angelle’s Sunday dance is classic: Beginning around 4 PM, and ending around 8 PM, which leaves time to eat at nearby PAT’S FISHERMAN WHARF RESTAURANT, one of our faves in that area!!
Built at the water’s edge, you can arrive at Angelle’s by auto along the levee, by boat on the water, or as we witnessed once, seaplane, for the dramatic entrance!!
As you face the stage, the water is in view beyond, which also includes the setting sun. Great bar, friendly staff and crazy patrons (see photos!), make for reliable fun memories!!
