Here’s another place I go to mainly because Jenae loves it. It is known for its Fresh Fish, and that is what I always order as therapy for my bad ways. What I like about their fish treatment is creating several toppings for each fish selection, from full-tilt Creole, to healthy spinach based; portions are large. This was mainly a locals place, but as FRENCHMEN STREET has exploded in recent years, ADOLFO’S is gaining high favor. Once again, I haven’t saved adequate photos to illustrate, but YELP certainly does.
But I DO have definite, and specific instructions for you to follow if you want to maximize your ADOLFO’S visit, so read on:
First of all, it is CASH ONLY!
Secondly, it is always popular, and above a local folksy music bar, THE APPLE BARREL, thus you have to walk up the adjacent stairs, put your name on waiting list…usually 1/2 hour to 45 minutes, and then are encouraged to go downstairs and have a drink while you wait to be called. I have a better plan; the drinks poured downstairs are stingy, and the music tends to be like open mike night. Instead, walk across the street to MARIGNY BRASSERIE which has a nice, usually un-crowded small bar, where they pour generous drinks at very fair prices! I have dined at this place frequently over the years, and also recommend it as a Sunday night alternative.
Finally, the dining areas at ADOLFO’S are wood, and tend to be lively; expect a higher customer noise level.
The above suggestions should not deter you from checking it out….unless I am also trying to get in there that evening!!
